The Medical Information Carrier System incorporates a 3/4-inch round, red and white insignia/decal that adheres to the outside of the helmet. The external decal is made of a reflective material. Emergency and law enforcement personnel can recognize it immediately and know to look inside the helmet for the 1 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch medical information sheet slipped inside a bright orange plastic carrier envelope. The plastic carrier is attached to the inside of the bike helmet by double-faced tape. The adhesive was tested extensively with high pressure water and steam to ensure that it would adhere well to the inside of any helmet. The information sheet itself is a waterproof, synthetic polyolefin material that resists grease, blood, oil and other stains. The helmet owner uses a pencil to complete the pertinent information, including emergency contacts, medical/surgical history, medications and allergies.
